The Gone With The Wind
Hall Of Stars Museum
In 2002, my late husband, actor Fred Crane, and I added The Gone With The Wind Hall Of Stars Museum to Tarleton Oaks Bed and Breakfast in Barnesville, Georgia. The museum was located within the antebellum home and consisted of over 100 personal items and costumes of Vivien Leigh, Clark Gable, Olivia de Havilland, Leslie Howard, Butterfly McQueen, Fred Crane, George Reeves and David Selznick as well as autographed photos of many of the "Gone With The Wind" cast members. On this page, you will see many of the items which were in our museum. I hope you enjoy it.
Here is a piece of nostalgia. This was our commercial for Tarleton Oaks Bed and Breakfast and The Gone With The Wind Hall of Stars Museum. We sold the beautiful, historic home in 2007; so, Tarleton Oaks Bed and Breakfast and The Gone With The Wind Hall of Stars Museum are now---gone with the wind. But, I have many, wonderful memories from the experience of entertaining guests from all over the world. For that privilege, I am eternally thankful.
Fred and Terry Lynn Crane welcome you to The Gone With The Wind Hall Of Stars Museum.
This is our Mammy Lookalike, Mildred "Mammy" Murphy, who greeted our guests at the front door. She'd say, "Welcome to Tarleton Oaks! Mister Brent, Miz Terry, your guests iz here!' and, as she turned, she’d lift the hem of her dress slightly to expose her red, taffeta petticoat. All our guests loved Mildred and wanted to take photographs with her.

In the slideshow below are some extremely rare items. You will see a book that belonged to David O. Selznick's weatherman's wife, Hannah Wexler, who wrote an accompanying letter describing her day watching the filming at Busch Gardens which was the Twelve Oaks' Barbecue Scene. While the letter is not quite accurate since she confused Fred and George, it is a wonderful account of her experience. She received autographs from various of the GWTW cast in her book, but, most significantly, is the first autograph that Fred Crane (Frederick Crane) and George Bessolo (George Reeves) ever signed for a fan! This was signed before George changed his name to George Reeves along with a photo showing them signing it! There are some more books signed by GONE WITH THE WIND author, Margaret Mitchell, and one book signed by Clark Gable
